In motorcycle accidents, jeans shred in an average of 0.6 seconds. After that, it's just your skin and the road.
Make sure to purchase the correct safety gear and actually wear it. Your entire body should be covered to prevent unnecessary injury in the event of a crash.
Insist that passengers on your motorcycle use the proper safety gear as well. You may be protected, but you're still liable for your passengers.

Use a rear-facing car seat for infants and toddlers up to 40 pounds. This type is safer for small children in the event of a crash.
Use a front-facing safety seat or booster seat once a child grows out of the old one. Its purpose is to raise the child up to fit the seat belt properly on the child.
Children should use a car seat until they reach a height of around 4 feet, 9 inches. Check state regulations to be sure.
